Overview
Izalkain is a northern continent with predominantly hilly terrain. It stretches from west to east, with the highest point being the Wind Fang Peak, located in the mountain range in the northwest. The lowest point is the Frost Grove Quarry, north of the center of the continent.
The quarry stretches along the Revak'Strun Mountains, separating the tundra and the mountain taiga of Nirkest.
Mountain Ranges
The northwestern mountains are known for their icy peaks, while the Revak'Strun Mountains in the central region are rich in mineral resources but treacherous to traverse. The mountains are home to rare creatures and ancient ruins dating back to forgotten civilizations.
The southern mountain range acts as a natural barrier, protecting the southwestern region from the harsh northern winds, creating a more temperate climate in that area.
Climate of Izalkain
Izalkain is a cold province. Summers here are short, with frequent night frosts, and winters are severe and frosty. Only the southwestern part of the continent is warmer than the others: the difference between the seasons is less noticeable. Most of the time, Izalkain is covered with snow or frost, which is why it is also called the Edge of Eternal Snows.

Natural Zones of Izalkain
Ice Peaks
Located in the mountains, starting above 3200 meters above sea level. These are stone wastelands dominated only by snow and ice. Here never happen snow storms, the wind almost doesn't rise. In places, snow and ice, intertwining with each other, form terrifying but fascinating landscapes of hanging snow caps or giant blocks.
Fauna
Animals usually don't wander here. Only occasionally can one find lost white bears and silver deer from the tundra, but they don't stay for long.
Monsters
The peaks are teeming with ice spirits - translucent bluish figures resembling wolf skeletons standing on their hind legs. Their spines are studded with spikes, and cold winds burst from their mouths with a piercing howl. Sarrodarms are the most dangerous - huge creatures covered with white scales that sleep under the snow most of the time.
Tundra and Forest Tundra
Predominantly valley terrain with rare inclusions of trees occupies the territory at the foot of the mountains. These are small areas of land, from one edge of which you can see the beginning of another natural zone. Despite the snow cover, the tundra and forest tundra are noticeably warmer than the icy peaks.
Flora
Juniper, rare spruces, and the valuable Izerus Mivalius (ice flowers) for alchemists. Despite the name, these plants have no flowering period and especially no flowers. Long hard stems have healing properties, and the small round leaves covering them, similar to lichen, are used in burn ointments.
Fauna
Silver deer, which got their name for their amazing skin color, are found here and do not leave their pastures for most of the year. Only in winter, when the already frosty province turns into a cursed hell, do they move to the taiga forests. Hares, large wolves, foxes, and wild cats are found everywhere, not only in the tundra.
Mountain Taiga
Mountainous area covered with coniferous forests. From mid-autumn to late spring, the grass and spruces are dusted with snow and frost, and in summer there are hunting estates of the nobility. The first settlements appear in the mountain taiga, mainly engaged in the trade of coniferous wood and hunting.
Flora
Juniper is increasingly common, sometimes forming whole groves. A significant part of the territory is covered with spruce forests, interspersed with pine forests. Berelika is a white berry that grows on the bushes of the same name in the coniferous forest. The taste of berelika berries is somewhat similar to frozen blueberries, but much sweeter.
Fauna
The mountain taiga is home to silver deer in winter, as well as snow hares, lynxes, and large birds of prey. The rivers are rich in fish, especially during the spawning season.
